Frequently Asked Questions

WP CHOMP

Do I need to ‘score’ the wallpaper before applying WP CHOMP or just spray it on?
Most wallpapers have a protective surface coating that is water resistant to protect it from everyday wear and tear, spills, etc. As WP CHOMP is water based you need a ‘way around’ this surface to allow WP to get to the backing which is glued to the wall. You can either pull off the facing (the top, decorative layer - easier to do with vinyl vs. paper wallpaper) or use a scoring tool to perforate the paper. If you use a scoring tool, be careful to use just enough pressure to penetrate the paper (poke holes in it) so you do not cause damage to the drywall beneath your wallpaper. Once you have scored the paper or exposed the backing by pulling off the facing, thoroughly spray the paper, working from top down, and begin to remove the backing. Traditional paper wallpapers are uncoated and porous. You can apply WP CHOMP directly to the paper and remove. For textiles that have been applied directly over adhesives, apply WP CHOMP onto the textile, wait a few minutes for the product to work, and remove.

I’ve removed the backing but there is still glue on the walls – how do I remove it?
WP CHOMP will also remove excess glue. Simply re-spray and wet thoroughly any remaining glue. Wait a few minutes and then remove by either scraping with a putty knife or scrubbing with a damp sponge or green scrubbing pad (the kind you use on your pots and pans). After all the glue is removed, rinse the walls clean with a light spray and wipe or wipe down with clean water and sponge.

Can I paint my walls after using WP CHOMP?
All paints recommend a clean surface prior to painting. While WP CHOMP simultaneously cleans walls while removing paper and paste the final step in any wash is the rinse cycle. Wipe the walls down with clean water and sponge.

Is WP CHOMP effective on all wallpaper pastes?
WP CHOMP works extremely well on the most common wallpaper pastes – clay, wheat and 880. We have also received good performance reports when used on VOV (vinyl-on-vinyl glues) removing borders.

I have some old paper that is very difficult to remove. Any ideas why?
People (DIY and Professional) may install wallpaper with the thought they never want to see it come loose, or down. If water-resistant, or permanent glues are used instead of common pastes, wallpaper removal will be difficult regardless of what stripper you use.

Spot CHOMP

What is Tetraflex®?
Tetraflex is our registered trademark covering a combination of benefits customers receive from proprietary polymers in our carpet-cleaning product. These benefits include:

  1. Stains don’t come back - reduced re-soiling. Many carpet cleaners leave a tacky residue behind. Our cleaning polymers embrittle when dry and are easily removed with no tacky residue i.e. carpet stays cleaner because it does not attract, and hold onto, dirt.
  2. Adds stain resistance – instead of stripping away factory applied stain protection, Spot CHOMP adds stain resistance to every treated area
  3. Vacuuming is easier – the treated area resists holding onto soils which are more efficiently removed during routine vacuuming.

Why does Spot CHOMP foam?
Spot CHOMP is designed as a low moisture foam – we want to pull the dirt up, not drive it down into the backing and pad.

When you buy, and use, Spot CHOMP you can be assured it will work and, equally important, your carpet’s warranty is protected and safe. I have a spot that I’ve cleaned with other cleaners that looks clean for awhile but then comes back? Will Spot CHOMP help?
You are probably experiencing classic resoiling. The other cleaners have left residue behind. While they initially cleaned the spot, the residue acts as a dirt magnet and eventually the treated area looks like a light black spot. Here’s a simple test. Take an ounce of warm water and pour it onto the spot. Rub it with your finger. If it soaps up you have a residue problem. To clean this keep pouring small amounts of water and extract using a wet/dry vacuum (a shop vac is fine). After you have removed all of the soap, the area no longer ‘suds up’, spray and clean with Spot CHOMP to remove any remaining residue and add stain resistance to the area.

I have an old stain that I’ve tried everything on. Will Spot CHOMP work on every stain?

However, we have many testimonials from customers who have tried Spot CHOMP on mystery stains with fabulous results. You have little to lose and much to gain by trying. At worst, you’ll have a superior product for future spills and accidents.

What’s the difference between the aerosol and Pet Odor trigger spray products?
Base chemistries are identical as is cleaning performance. However, the Pet Odor carries one additional polymer that ties up VOC’s – the scent molecules pet s use to return to marked areas. Animals are color blind, if the pet can’t smell the spot, it won’t return to the spot again and again. We package this product in a trigger spray because you need to put more product down – as much as the animal put down, to ensure you cover the affected area – padding included.

I have black streaks on my roof, what’s causing this?
This discoloration is caused by an air born algae – Gloeocapsa Magma – that has landed and established a colony on your roof.

How long has this problem existed and is it everywhere?
This problem began to become more widespread in the 1970’s  during the OPEC Oil embargo. At that time, asphalt shingle manufacturers were forced to change the composition of shingles, decreasing the asphalt content and increasing the calcium carbide (ground limestone) content. Gloeocapsa Magma feeds on calcium carbide
