Q. What is Tetraflex®?
A. Tetraflex is our registered trademark covering a combination of benefits customers receive from proprietary polymers in our carpet-cleaning product. These benefits include:
- Stains don’t come back - reduced re-soiling. Many carpet cleaners leave a tacky residue behind. Our cleaning polymers embrittle when dry and are easily removed with no tacky residue i.e. carpet stays cleaner because it does not attract, and hold onto, dirt.
- Adds stain resistance – instead of stripping away factory applied stain protection, Spot CHOMP adds stain resistance to every treated area
- Vacuuming is easier – the treated area resists holding onto soils which are more efficiently removed during routine vacuuming.
Q. Why does Spot CHOMP foam?
A. Spot CHOMP is designed as a low moisture foam – we want to pull the dirt up, not drive it down into the backing and pad.
Q. The CRI Seal of Approval on the can – what is it and what does it mean?
A. The CRI is the Carpet & Rug Institute and the Seal of Approval means Spot CHOMP has been independently tested and certified as effective and safe for your carpet. When you buy, and use, Spot CHOMP you can be assured it will work and, equally important, your carpet’s warranty is protected and safe. Always look for the CRI Seal of Approval for all of your carpet care products. For additional information visit http://www.carpet-rug.com/.
Q. Do all carpet cleaners carry the CRI Seal of Approval?
A. All Spot CHOMP products – Spot, Pet Odor and Stain and Steam Vac, carry the CRI SOA. Spot CHOMP was the first product ever to earn the SOA and is still one of only two aerosols so certified (as of this printing).
Q. Is Spot CHOMP safe for my oriental and wool rugs?
A. We always recommend testing in an inconspicuous area first but Spot CHOMP has been tested safe for all types of carpet and rugs – oriental and wool included.
Q. I have a spot that I’ve cleaned with other cleaners that looks clean for awhile but then comes back? Will Spot CHOMP help?
A. You are probably experiencing classic resoiling. The other cleaners have left residue behind. While they initially cleaned the spot, the residue acts as a dirt magnet and eventually the treated area looks like a light black spot. Here’s a simple test. Take an ounce of warm water and pour it onto the spot. Rub it with your finger. If it soaps up you have a residue problem. To clean this keep pouring small amounts of water and extract using a wet/dry vacuum (a shop vac is fine). After you have removed all of the soap, the area no longer ‘suds up’, spray and clean with Spot CHOMP to remove any remaining residue and add stain resistance to the area.
Q. I have an old stain that I’ve tried everything on. Will Spot CHOMP work on every stain?
A. Some stains are permanent and require a professional with special, regulated cleaning products. However, we have many testimonials from customers who have tried Spot CHOMP on mystery stains with fabulous results. You have little to lose and much to gain by trying. At worst, you’ll have a superior product for future spills and accidents.
Q. Can I use Spot CHOMP in my car?
A. Spot CHOMP works great in your car and, as many automotive carpets do not have stain resistance, will help protect your cars interior from future stains.
Q. What about upholstery – can I use Spot CHOMP on my furniture?
A. While Spot CHOMP is an excellent cleaner and has proven effective on upholstery use care as it is a water based product and some materials, such as silk and satin, water stain. Again, test in an inconspicuous area first.
Q. Will Spot CHOMP work on pet stains?
A. Spot CHOMP will do an excellent job on the pet stain you can see. However, to treat the pet stain you can smell, use our Pet Odor and Stain cleaner.
Q. What’s the difference between the aerosol and Pet Odor trigger spray products?
A. Base chemistries are identical as is cleaning performance. However, the Pet Odor carries one additional polymer that ties up VOC’s – the scent molecules pet s use to return to marked areas. Animals are color blind, if the pet can’t smell the spot, it won’t return to the spot again and again. We package this product in a trigger spray because you need to put more product down – as much as the animal put down, to ensure you cover the affected area – padding included.
Q. Is Spot CHOMP Steam Vac safe for my home personal steam vacuum cleaner?
A. Spot CHOMP Steam Vac is safe, and recommended for all professional and personal steam vac cleaners. Remember, Spot CHOMP not only gives you professional strength cleaning, it also resists re-soiling and adds stain resistance to cleaned areas.
Q. Where can I buy Spot CHOMP?
A. Spot CHOMP aerosol is available nationally at all Sherwin Williams stores. Aerosol and Pet Odor are available at all Menards stores, many True Value and Do It Best Hardware stores, independent paint stores across the country. All Spot CHOMP products are also available though Amazon.com. Spot CHOMP aerosol has been featured in several Costco regions and, we hope, will be again.
