General Information

  1. WP CHOMP is a pH neutral, water based product. Each 32 oz/ bottle contains billions of enzyme producing microbes that begin to work on wallpaper paste on contact. If your product has frozen, allow it to return to room temperature without heating. The product has a minimum shelf life of 2 years from date of production. Keep the container tightly closed and store in a cool, dry place away from extreme heat or direct sunlight. Dispose of any left over or excess product in accordance with local disposal laws covering non-hazardous, bio-degradable water based products.

  2. Safety – Always use good safety practices and common sense precautions when using any cleaning product. Do not take internally, may irritate eyes – flush thoroughly with water in case of accidental contact. Prolonged contact may cause minor irritation for those with sensitive skin. Insure adequate ventilation in working area. WP CHOMP has been independently tested and measured as 3X less toxic than baby shampoo. If a child (or pet) accidentally ingests WP CHOMP mild diarrhea may occur. Any negative effect will be minimized by drinking water.

How To Use

TIPS

  1. Dilute with warm water.
  2. When applying product, start at the top and work down. For larger areas you can apply WP CHOMP with a pump sprayer or roller. WP CHOMP is pH neutral and safe for all surfaces, contains no dyes so will not stain. Wipe up any excess material with a towel. If spilled on a carpet or rug blot up with a damp cloth and spray the area with Spot CHOMP to remove any remaining product and protect your carpet.

  3. If WP CHOMP dries after your original application simply rewet thoroughly.

  4. For professional paperhangers, many of our contractor customers have told us they use WP CHOMP to clean their paste worktables and tools. For clean-up of any tools used during your wallpaper removal job – rollers, trays, buckets, misc. tools, simply rinse thoroughly in warm water and dry.

Q. Do I need to ‘score’ the wallpaper before applying WP CHOMP or just spray it on?

A. Most wallpapers have a protective surface coating that is water resistant to protect it from everyday wear and tear, spills, etc. As WP CHOMP is water based you need a ‘way around’ this surface to allow WP to get to the backing which is glued to the wall. You can either pull off the facing (the top, decorative layer - easier to do with vinyl vs. paper wallpaper) or use a scoring tool to perforate the paper. If you use a scoring tool, be careful to use just enough pressure to penetrate the paper (poke holes in it) so you do not cause damage to the drywall beneath your wallpaper. Once you have scored the paper or exposed the backing by pulling off the facing, thoroughly spray the paper, working from top down, and begin to remove the backing. Traditional paper wallpapers are uncoated and porous. You can apply WP CHOMP directly to the paper and remove. For textiles that have been applied directly over adhesives, apply WP CHOMP onto the textile, wait a few minutes for the product to work, and remove.

Q. I’ve removed the backing but there is still glue on the walls – how do I remove it?

A. WP CHOMP will also remove excess glue. Simply re-spray and wet thoroughly any remaining glue. Wait a few minutes and then remove by either scraping with a putty knife or scrubbing with a damp sponge or green scrubbing pad (the kind you use on your pots and pans). After all the glue is removed, rinse the walls clean with a light spray and wipe or wipe down with clean water and sponge.

Q. Can I paint my walls after using WP CHOMP?

A. All paints recommend a clean surface prior to painting. While WP CHOMP simultaneously cleans walls while removing paper and paste the final step in any wash is the rinse cycle. Wipe the walls down with clean water and sponge.

Q. Is WP CHOMP effective on all wallpaper pastes?

A.WP CHOMP works extremely well on the most common wallpaper pastes – clay, wheat and 880. We have also received good performance reports when used on VOV (vinyl-on-vinyl glues) removing borders.

Q. I have some old paper that is very difficult to remove. Any ideas why?

A. People (DIY and Professional) may install wallpaper with the thought they never want to see it come loose, or down. If water-resistant, or permanent glues are used instead of common pastes, wallpaper removal will be difficult regardless of what stripper you use.
